Founded in 2018, Octavia’s eponymous practice specialises in residential and commercial projects – in town and country. These include the full re-design and remodelling of a former 16-century coaching inn, now turned country pub in Shropshire, with 12 individually-designed guest rooms. Octavia works very closely with architects, contractors, joiners and lighting designers – all those details which make a home considered and a joy to live in.

Octavia’s interiors are joyful, layered, and decorative. Drawing on her art-history training at the Courtauld Institute in London, she approaches a room like a beautiful painting, combining colours and shapes in compositions which delight the senses – but never jar. Octavia enjoys offsetting textures and finishes, using fabric to soften hard edges, adding trims and ample lamplight, and mixing furniture styles for a homely and eclectic feel. She aims to conjure a feast for your eyes – that you will never tire of.

This decorative yet understated style also reflects Octavia’s childhood. She grew up in a house where every surface was crowded with art: paintings, sculptures and other exotic, intriguing objects collected by her parents over many years. Visiting the homes of relatives, Octavia soaked up the other details – the squashy sofas, a vast collection of books, the gathered pleats of a set of curtains, a bold use of colour – which set her on course to becoming an interior designer.

In 2022, Octavia’s inaugural collection of fabrics and wallpapers – both decorative and useful – was launched on her website, all inspired by her love of art, vintage textiles, ceramics, and favourite objects. The designs reflect her commitment to creating a home where colour, comfort and individuality combine in equal measures.
