Ban Chiang Pedestal Vase

This elegant Thai Ban Chiang pottery vase, is a typical example of the red-on-buff pottery found in burial sites first discovered in the Ban Chiang region (present day Udon Thani province in Thailand). Made between 1000-300 BC, this vase will have been made without the use of a wheel and has been hand painted with a geometric design on the base and ‘swirl’ on the bowl.
